I have recently joined the world of Pinterest. The amazing, wonderful, delightful world of Pinterest. I stress this, because I LOVE this website. Who doesn't? You can get on there, see so many awesome things that OTHER people have done, Pin It to your board as something you WANT to do, and then NEVER actually do it. A virtual Wish Board, if you will. Offering so many different categories makes it a virtual world for everyone (and I mean EVERYONE). Now I haven't tried to prove this theory by searching, but I'm pretty sure it's even nice for the menfolk looking for fast cars and chicks to sit on them.
Anyway. My Pinterest boards are the following general categories: Parenting, Funnies, Crafts, Food Porn, and (my favorite) Tattoo Ideas. Of course, the most fun to pin to are the crafts and food boards because I know deep down that I will probably Never Use These Ideas. Never. I mean, sure I might try the one where you add food coloring to a white cake to make a rainbow cake, because, well, that's just fricking easy. However, that's about where my patience to try new things ends. The beauty of these virtual pins is all in the Appearances. You can look cultured, crafty, and innovative without ever leaving your computer! What, you like those $250 boots and pinned them to the "My Style" board? You MUST have great taste! But are you actually going to buy them? Heck no, why buy them when you can just PIN IT and people know what you like! You mean if you could you would organize your pantry/cabinets to have fold out shelves to maximize space? That's Genius! No need to tell everyone that your house doesn't even have a pantry, let alone enough cabinets to expand upon. Pinterest is all about the virtual What Ifs. What if I had unlimited money? What if I develop culinary skills over night? What if I like this funny meme, and suddenly everyone thinks I have a sense of humor? What if I somehow manage to find the money to scrape up to buy that sewing machine so I can actually do all those "cheap and easy" DIY projects?
Should any of these things happen over night (by some weird miracle of a mishap!) I will forever have my virtual wish boards on Pinterest to save me from ever being bored again!
